Honestly people! There is a complete difference between Adams performance and the One Life to Live scene. I think the sex scene is actually a more positive view for the GLBT community. Do you really want people to see gay men as the stereotypical club going, promiscuous type, or a loving couple just like any other loving couple. Yes the time of day, blah blah blah, but have you seen other soap sex scenes? It pretty much soft core porn. There have actually been much more graphic sex scenes on soaps. I would be more upset if they continued to hide gay sex a-la Luke and Noah on As the World Turns. This storyline has been going on for a while and has been heading in this direction since the summer. The head writer of the show has stated he was going to treat them just like any other couple, which includes sex scenes. ABC knew this, and had no problem with it. ABC has more gay characters than any other network on Broadcast tv. The problem with Adam's performance is that he went too far with the simulated oral sex, and the network wasn't prepared for it. Do you really want the public's view on gay men to be guys who have oral sex in the middle of a club while dancing? Do you really think that's a positive view of the homosexual community. Is it going to make conservatives see them in a more positive light? It's just going to reinforce every belief they ever had. Not that most of them will change their minds, but there may be some who see a caring seen like this one, and think 'Oh, that's gay love? You mean they aren't all having orgies and sleeping with any guy they meet at a club?' This is a good thing, much better than Adams over the top performance.

You know what's ironic? The fact that Adam's openness and honesty is actually making things like the history-making scene in question more accepted. And, yet, he's the one who had to "take the fall" for gays in ABC's punishing of a scapegoat. Not only that - Jennifer Lopez was on Dick Clark's New Year's Eve Show, performing in a body suit that left nothing to the imagination, and introducing her crotch to a man's face. Sound familiar? (And ... where is the outrage??)

I think we'll see in time the influence Adam Lambert will have in knocking down long-held barriers erected by those who scream their disapproval, while hiding behind their self-righteousness, ignorance or religious views. As one child was quoted as saying, "He makes it cool to be gay." I second that.

"ABC doesn't owe anything to Adam, and he must learn to accept the consequences of his decisions and actions." Cathy, he has done that. Adam is gracious. It is the rest of us scratching our heads in disbelief. Something else is going on here. It may be a while before it becomes publicly known, or may never come out, but something definitely doesn't add up.

Performing on TV is a privilege and not a right. Adam broke trust with ABC when he changed what he had done in rehearsal and simulated fellatio. Some of you keep focusing on the kiss, and that's not the issue. I believe that the network would have had the same response if this had been a man and a woman doing this simulated act. ABC doesn't owe anything to Adam, and he must learn to accept the consequences of his decisions and actions.

I can understand some getting upset over ADAM's performance, as it is something that they weren't expecting and obviously something that they are not comfortable with OR something they THINK that they are NOT SUPPOSED to be comfortable with.
Nevertheless, that is their problem.

When ABC turns around and shows a scene like this with clothes coming off, hugging holding and kissing, while children are definitely home.
My God, ADAM was dressed in FULL SUIT.

That night they had the camera on ADAM all night long while he sat in the audience. In addition to that, when the Black-Eyed Peas performed, they went out into the audience, went right up to Adam, gave him a high 5 hand shake and then went right back up onto the stage.
They announced that ADAM's performance would be one that you may not believe, and would be talking about it the next day..........
They built this up the entire night.
I doubt very much that they weren't aware of what he was going to do.
I just hope they weren't setting him up.
For what reason? Who knows. Perhaps they, and ADAM were all in on it.

But, when push came to shove perhaps they both agreed that "WE ABC KNOW NOTHING"
Perhaps it was a publicity stunt staged by both sides.......Took a gamble.......Perhaps it helped ADAM perhaps not.........But either way, they perhaps agreed in advance that if it doesn't go good, we KNOW NOTHING and you are on your own !!

BUT, then how can they show a scene like this one and condemn ADAM????

Yes, they now OWE HIM BIG TIME.
Especially a STATEMENT and a PUBLIC APOLOGY.

ABC is banned from my house. They are hipocrites. The **** they pulled with Adam and then they show this. Bull. They can keep changing their story but the truth is they hyped up his performance and then dropped him once things got hot and left the kid hanging. They have lost all credibility to me. They want to back gays, start backing Adam. Until then they can put this soap opera where the sun doesn't shine.

How can ABC possibly justify airing this when they made all the fuss over Adam's AMA performance? This soap aired in the middle of the day when young children would be much more likely to be watching TV than the 11:00 PM performance by Adam. I have been boycotting ABC and will continue to do so. None of their shows are worth my time anyway! Rock on Adam! We love you!!

ABC was miffed because Adam stuffed someone's face in his crotch. Comparing that to this tender and romantic love scene is ridiculous.
Two different things. If abnyone feels Disney/ABC is homophobic, then they obviously haven't ever done their homework. Disney is EXTREMELY gay friendly and one of the most equal opportunity employers in the world. It was the face in crotch that pissed them off people.

Timing? New Year's Eve ABC shows a gay love scene during daylight hours. Children are home on vacation. Where's the Westboro Baptist Church, the FCC, the 1500 complainers of the AMA performance by Adam Lambert. ABC has gone out of their way to ban Adam Lambert in a live performance, and now they pull this. Well, then I shouldn't worry that he will be allowed to attend and/or perform on any shows on ABC from this point forward because if not, then it becomes a personal vendetta against Mr. Lambert himself. Adam is enjoying a headlining performance to a sold out crowd, which benefits The American Red Cross tonight. He is a winner on so many levels.

I have boycotted ABC since they cancelled ADAM LAMBERT on their network because of the AMA performance. I see nothing wrong with this love story on OLTL but I feel it is much more explicit than the OTT show ADAM gave. After all he was just ACTING like these two actors on OLTL but there's no outcry from anyone and I hope there isn't. I know there are impressionable children home from school due to the holidays. ABC OWES ADAM a HUGE APOLOGY in GIANT LETTERS and on television as well. SO DOES THE FCC!! When this has been done a lot of ADAM's fans will lift their boycott and I ASSURE you there are SCORES if not HUNDREDS of them!!!

ABC needs to compensate Adam Lambert monitarily and with a public appology. All of his fans need to boycott ABC this evening and everyone else who sees the unfairness of this should as well.

I saw this episode on daytime soaps. I was quite suprised. I am a huge Adam Lambert fan and was a bit upset for what ABC tried to do to him after his AMA peformance, yet this episode didn't seem to bring in any complaints. I am a nearly 50 year old mother of 3 and much doesn't shock me, but this show did. Although I was not offended I was just shocked that ABC would care that Adam kissed a man for what 10 seconds and on the show they actually showed all the stripping and kissing and spooning. Shame on them. They need to apologize to Adam!

As a society we are on the brink of a change in so many different ways. I think that all of the inconsistency is just part of how it is when things begin to change. If the willing just keep stepping it up, we will see some boundaries move permanently. There are so may things that we see every day that were non-existent when I was a child. So we forge on!
