Here are some ideas for a creative way to say it!
I’ve always loved someecards.com, which features snarky messages like “Join us in closing out the latest worst year ever,” “Let’s resolve to stop having meaningless sex in 2010, so I suggest you pay me a compliment or get me liquored up ASAP,” and “Thanks for not laughing at my absurdly unattainable New Year’s resolutions.” I love the sentiment here. You can also make your own, which I’ve always been a fan of.
You could also think about using your phone to send a picture message of what’s going on around you. Pictures of fireworks or a big crowd or confetti would be way more interesting that a generic mass text that says ”Happy New Year!”
Another idea would be to use your phone to actually CALL people rather than text. You can impress everyone with your drunken rendition of “Auld Lang Syne!” And for the record, it’s not just nonsense. According to The Huffington Post, it’s an old Scottish poem that literally translates to “Old Long Since,” and more roughly means “long, long ago” or “days gone by.”
