What Are “Not Your Daughter’s Jeans?”

NYDJ-1The latest trend in denim seems to be the promise of more than just jeans. Back in October, we told you about Hello Skinny Jeans, which assert that they’ll give you longer legs, a flatter stomach and a shapelier butt. Now everyone’s talking about Los Angeles-based Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, which are designed for those of us who have a few years of wisdom and experience (and perhaps not the skinniest of bodies) – but still want to be sexy.

Their website’s About Us section says that “Not You Daughter’s Jeans celebrates the beauty of women who know who they are and know they don’t need to impress anyone but themselves.” It continues: “These are jeans that will respect you in the morning, look good coming and going and make you proud of every single curve – maybe for the first time ever.”

Okay, it sounds like a bit much. They’re just jeans, right? And I find it a little ironic that the brand of jeans that ”respects” you also has “Lift Tuck” technology that claims to make you look a full size smaller.  Still, I’m intrigued. Has anyone tried a pair of these? I bet the high-waisted style would tuck you in. You can find them at various Macy’s, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s stores, as well as some smaller boutiques (check out their store locator).

Man, I feel so behind the times. Right now my jeans are just jeans!

  1. Melissa Barlow says:

I tried on the high-waisted ones and they do indeed hold you in. The waist was a little too high for me though because I am really short

  2. All hype. Tried them on, they did zippo to hide my extra-5 pounds stomach. Also, the shape of the leg “flare” is weird, and they were too tight in the thigh. I’m 5’8″ and 148 pounds.
    Back to the treadmill…

  3. I agree, the waist is a bit high. I’m may not want my daughter’s jeans, but I also don’t want “Mom Jeans.”
