When Tiger Woods appeared on the cover of Golf Digest leaning over President Obama, it was an embarrassing nod to his pre-scandal life. But Tiger’s new Vanity Faircover embraces his sexcapades, featuring the golf star shirtless, stone-faced, and holding a pair of free weights.
You can check Buzz Bissinger’s cover story, aptly titled “Tiger in the Rough,” at VF’s website, but don’t be too enticed; it’s not an interview. Still, it does pose some interesting questions about the scandal. Why were we all so shocked at Tiger’s infidelity? Athletes are notorious for womanizing and other scandalous behavior. Is it that he’s a golfer? Were his publicists really that good at crafting a squeaky-clean image?
Buzz reflects on an old interview with a then 21-year-old Tiger, in which he didn’t seem so innocent under that polo shirt. In a 1997 GQ article, Tiger said, “What I can’t figure out is why so many good-looking women hang around baseball and basketball. Is it because, you know, people always say that, like, black guys have big d—s?” His people must have been upset over that one, since it wasn’t too long after that Tiger stopped being so open to the media.
Do you think Tiger can ever recover from this? Will he ever be able to go back to the red polo, or is shirtless, sex-crazed Tiger the only one we’ll know from here on out?

Eegads, he looks like a prison yard bully in that cover. As for his recovery, the golf circuit changed forever because of him, but it still has an air of “high” class about it that other sports don’t seem to carry. I’m not sure if he can pull out of this or not because it made him human to a lot of people who saw him otherwise.
Creepy… it’s hard sticking to your guns, i guess, when you have so many people surrounding and telling you how to pertain a persona that will add cash to their pockets and yours. I’m glad he revealed his true self, as for me, being a male slut is not neccessarily a peronality trait I find commendable in a man
