Celebs Celebrated the New Year in Sequins

Celebrities: They’re just like us! On New Year’s Eve, celebrities and normal people alike hit the clubs to ring in 2010. And, of course, celebrities did it while wearing some very flashy outfits. Here are some of the celebs who started the year off with a bang! And the celebs who should have been shot for their trashy celebratory clothing.

If you’re rich and famous, there’s no place for New Year’s Eve like Las Vegas. All the usual suspects hit Sin City to celebrate 2010, so it would be stupid to assume celebrity ladies would show up wearing anything more than dresses that equate to little more than sequin handkerchiefs.  Christina Aguilara partied it up in Las Vegas in a glittery black nightie (er, dress). Fergie channeled her inner showgirl with a silver sequins and fringe mini dress. On a classier note, Eva Longoria (Do I really have to add the Parker on the end?) celebrated with her hubby in a stunning blue and gold sequin dress with matching blue pumps. If you want to know how to do sequins right, take a note from Eva. And mother-of-two, Nicole Richie, looked golden in a long-sleeve gold sequin mini over black tights.

Now that that’s done, we can get to the night’s biggest fashion disaster. Most descriptions of this singer/actress’s one-piece outfit have referred to it as a catsuit. Funny, because when I first saw it, I thought the celebrity wearing it looked like a hairless cat that had been bedazzled by a menacing 5-year-old girl. I guess everyone who saw J.Lo’s black unitard speckled with sequins couldn’t help but be a little catty. Oh, J.Lo, seriously, what were you thinking? To top it off, she paired the nearly see-through onesie with black sequin booties and a garish fur coat as she rang in 2010 in New York City on national television.

And, so, J.Lo has managed, in one night, to become 2009′s final worst-dressed celebrity and 2010′s first. Is there nothing she can’t do?
