I bet Leonardo Da Vinci never knew that his religious painting The Last Supper would be used to advertise so many TV shows.  According to USA Today’s Pop Candy blog, the iconic scene was recreated for The Sopranos, Battlestar Galactica and MASH, and all were highly analyzed by fans. It’s no surprise that Lost is the latest addition to the canon, since Lost fans are pretty crazy and intense when it comes to spoilers, symbols and series mythology (come on, you know you are).

In the new photo (cleverly dubbed “The Lost Supper”), Locke, Kate, Jack, Hurley and others (but NOT Walt, Juliet, Rose and Bernard) pose at a makeshift table covered in Dharma products.

Fans have uncovered a number of clues: The table is made out of an airplane wing; Locke is seated in the Jesus position; The Swan logo is in the background; and this could mean we’ll see much more of Ilana this season. Interestingly, there are two versions of the photo: in one, the cast gazes into the camera; in the other, they look at Locke.

The New York Times Artsbeat blog also found clues: if you flip between the two pictures, Miles and Claire appear to swap places; Jin and Sun sit together in one picture but are separated in the other; Sayid is in the Judas position in both photos; and Kate sits on the left side of Locke in both, perhaps suggesting a pregnancy.

What are your predictions? Do you think maybe ABC is just f—ing with us?

It really is a popular image – in the past few years it has been used in The Simpsons, Watchmen, BSG, House and many more. Here are 100 other examples for comparison, and the Lost version holds up very well: http://culturepopped.blogspot.com/2007/04/suddenly-last-supper.html
