As Nick Cannon helped his wife Mariah Carey walk up the stairs to accept her award for Favorite R&B Artist at the People’s Choice Awards last night, we all wondered if we’d get a repeat performance of her drunken ramblings at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. However, she explained that she needed help walking because her long, tight beaded dress was “drama,” and she seemed coherent throughout almost all of her speech. Check out the video:
“Thank you so much for this award,” she said. “It really really means so much to me because it’s from my fans, and my fans, my real fans know that they are my extended family and I love them so much.” She also acknowledged her fellow talented nominees: Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Usher. “We know they’re all incredible,” she said.
Things almost got weird when she thanked her hubby ”for being my best friend, and for many other things that I probably shouldn’t mention.” Yowza! Luckily Nick seems to be a pretty good sport about his flighty, unpredictable wife; in his only reaction shot he made a goofy smile as the crowd cheered for him.
Other big winners of the evening included New Moon (duh), Sandra Bullock, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Lady Gaga, Taylor Lautner, House, Hugh Laurie, Glee and The Big Bang Theory.
