Natalie Portman’s not happy, but her fans are. According to MSN, photos of the actress’ nude scene in the 2007 short film Hotel Chevalier have shown up on the Internet. (Some of the more risque photos are posted here and here.) Last year, the scene itself was leaked as a viral video.
She certainly has nothing to be ashamed of, but the 28-year-old says she probably won’t be taking her clothes off for a film ever again. She told WENN, “It really depressed me that half of every review on the film was about the nudity. It made me think I shouldn’t have done it.”
“I’m not prudish about nudity,” she continued. ”I think it’s beautiful in films, and sex is such a big part of life. My issue is that I feel it takes something away from what you’re doing when the focus is put on the wrong thing. My picture ended up on porn sites, and that’s the dilemma.”
I’m glad that she wants to be recognized for something other than her body — and I think she deserves to be, since she’s such a smart, talented woman.
Natalie also recently told Elle magazine that despite being Israeli-born, she’s not interested in playing Jewish women. “I’ve always tried to stay away from playing Jews… I get, like, 20 Holocaust scripts a month, but I hate the genre,” she said.
