Peter Biskind has penned many journalistic tomes about Hollywood over the years. His book “Easy Rider, Raging Bulls” was a must-read portrait of the 70s’ American writers and directors who transformed the business through their personal style of film making — and through their blockbusters. He followed that up with “Down and Dirty Pictures,” a gossipy and entertaining trip through the independent film world, populated with young genius madmen such as David O. Russell and Quentin Tarantino.
Biskind’s latest book, “Star: How Warren Beatty Seduced America” is an unauthorized bio of the actor, and is already ruffling feathers. Especially, when it comes to Beatty’s prowess with the ladies, or more specifically: how many ladies.
The book goes on to some rather salacious details, like that Beatty and Jane Fonda enjoyed a zesty love life, “due to her ability to virtually unhinge her jaw, like a python that swallows prey much larger than itself.”
Too. Much. Information.
Beatty’s attorney was quick to make sure the public knew the book was unauthorized, despite the many alleged direct quotes from the love machine himself. He also wanted to make sure you knew the book was: “tedious and boring.”
