Valerie Bertinelli on TODAY: How To Stay Thin (VIDEO)

We’ve all seen Valerie Bertinelli’s amazing before-and-after photos as part of her Jenny Craig campaign, but the 49-year-old actress, best known for TV show One Day at a Time, says that her journey is not over. She appeared on The TODAY Show this morning, and says that she has a new challenge: running the Boston marathon this spring.

“I’m really going to do it,” she proudly told Meredith Vieira. “I’m training right now, and come April 19, four days before my 50th birthday, I’ll be running 26.2 miles.” Check out the video:

The petite 5-foot-2 Valerie weighed 172 pounds when she signed on as a Jenny Craig spokeswoman in March 2007. She dieted down to the low 120s and shocked everyone in a TV commercial and photo spread in which she showed off her new wares in a revealing bikini. Now she’s focused on life after losing, which is also the theme of her new book, “Finding It”, which follows on the heels of her No. 1 best-seller last year, “Losing It.”

Valerie knows how hard it is to maintain an achieved weight. “Over 95 percent of dieters gain back the weight and then some within five years. I was that person; I still could be that person,” Valerie said as she knocked wood on the table. “I’m three years into this, so I want to really strangle the beast for the last time.”

Good for her, she looks fantastic!
