Imagine having a half-brother and not meeting him for 20 years. That’s exactly what happened to Brittny Gastineau, daughter of New York Jets player Mark Gastineau. The athlete left Brittny’s mom Lisa for actress Brigitte Nielsen decades ago, but Brittny never got to meet their son, Killian Marcus Gastineau (20).
Brittny tells her emotional story in the latest edition of People magazine. Brittny had never before seen or spoken to Killian, who lives in Italy and works at a wine and champagne company. “I’ve always known I have a half-brother, I was told as a kid, but he was totally off the radar. It was like he didn’t exist,” Brittny said.
But Brittny’s mom ran into Brigitte at Ivana Trump’s wedding last year, and they more than got along. They exchanged phone numbers – and much to Brittny’s surprise, last week, Brigitte “texted my mom and said Marcus is in town and he’d love to meet me,” says Brittny. They arranged a special dinner at Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills.
“It was very weird and surreal,” Brittny said. “I didn’t cry. I’m too tough to cry. But we hugged, we talked about old stories. He said he watched Gastineau Girls in Italy, so he knew what I looked like.”
Hmm, that makes one of us. Anyone ever watch that show?
