Remember when I said that working out over the holidays would be no problem?
Yeah, not so much.
For some unknown reason, I decided to move on December 15th which meant half of my stuff was in one place and half in the other for a long time. I also live in Seattle, so in the winter it rains instead of snows, so after a week of moving in the freezing rain, I got sick and was laid up for about 4 days. Then, I didn’t have a TV hook up for a while, and blah, blah, blah- needless to say, I was a week behind, which worked out fine, because I just started fresh the following week. So, basically, I just took a week off which meant week 10 turned into week 9, and then I completed week 10 and 11 like nothing ever happened.
I’d say the biggest thing with the P90X program is it’s not very flexible, and by not very, I mean it’s not. It’s not the kind of workout where you can fit it in really quickly when you have a spare moment, or do anytime, because of the length of the workouts and the equipment that is needed.
I did workout, however. I’m not the kind of person that can just not workout, and I didn’t want to lose any of the results I had gotten so far (even though I know you can’t lose any significant gains in just a week off, but I wanted to be able to pick right up where I left off.) I went for a few runs and did some body weight exercises, when I wasn’t sick, of course. I had mixed feelings, it was nice to have a break, but it still wasn’t P90X. Of course you don’t have to follow the program perfectly to still get fantastic results, but for my challenge I really wanted to do the program in the way it was intended, beginning to end.
But such is life. There are always going to be wrenches thrown, barriers built, and crap that hits the fan, and you can’t always control it. As long as you do what you can, get right back on track, and don’t beat yourself, you’ll be good to go.
Have you missed anything?
