Further blurring the line between government and the media, former Alaska governor and would-be Vice President Sarah Palin announced today that she has struck a deal to contribute to Fox News.

According to an article in The New York Times, Palin won’t have a “regular program,” but rather will host a periodic series possibly a la Fox’s “War Stories” series hosted by Reagan-era-baddie Oliver North.

Furthermore, as the article points out, many suspected Palin would be shooting for a career in media in light of her abrupt resignation of her gubernatorial post and subsequent book release last year. Given Fox’s conservative bent and ensuing support of Palin, it only makes sense that she would turn to them for her entree into the ‘journalistic’ community.

However, given the predilection people who work with her have for turning to the media to tell what a horrible experience it was, one can only imagine how long it will before even Fox News tires of her. Most recently, former Republican insider McCain/Palin campaign manager Steve Schmidt has come out on 60 Minutes to expose and decry her idiocy during the campaign–much to Rachel Maddow’s (and my) delight.

Schmidt’s story of Palin was much the same as the others that have emerged–she’s not too bright, but is quite hard-headed, so there was lots of work and worry going on behind the scenes by the team while she floated around doing what she wanted to anyhow. I’d say this should be interesting on Fox News–God forbid (for her, obviously I’d love it) she go up against a hard-hitting journalist, like that meanie Katie Couric. But I’m certain they are evil–and smart–enough to know they have to keep her to pre-taped, pre-edited segments. And somehow, she appears to be evil–and crafty–enough to make it work for her.

Too bad. I was honestly hoping she was one person we wouldn’t be hearing any more from in 2010. Naive me.
