“One Tree Hill” Star Antwon Tanner Going to Jail

antwon-tanner-1Antwon Tanner is known as “Skills” on the never-ending CW drama One Tree Hill – but his skills weren’t enough to keep him out of trouble. According to USA Today, the 34 year-old actor has been ordered to  spend three months in prison for selling more than a dozen stolen Social Security numbers for $10,000 to an undercover agent during a sting operation.

Antwon, who played a basketball coach on the show, pleaded guilty back in August. Despite telling a Brooklyn judge that he was only the “middleman” in the incident, he’ll have to  report to prison on April 30. After he’s released, he’ll serve five months in home detention.

According to E Online, Antwon tried to sell 16 phony Social Security Numbers and three counterfeit cards. He also admitted to knowingly breaking the law, since the digits were used to fraudulently purchase goods over a 2 1/2-year period.

The actor was facing up to 10 years behind bars and a $250,000 fine if he rejected the plea agreement from prosecutors. Antwon’s lawyer, Gregory Watts, previously blamed his client’s behavior on “stupidity” and called it “an embarrassment” to his family and fans.

I know the CW probably doesn’t pay its actors a top rate, but I’m guessing Antwon has enough money to survive. Why would he need to steal Social Security numbers and sell them?
