I know you’ve been anxiously awaiting today’s holiday, National Hat Day! Okay, maybe not, but it can still be a fun day to make a fashion statement (and keep your head warm). Here are my choices for what the cover the ‘ol noggin with:
The Floppy Knit
I’m a big fan of this one, which looks great in a variety of colors. (So is Cameron Diaz!) I think the key to making it work is to make sure it’s not too big, and that it doesn’t cover much of your face. Focus the flop on falling to the side or the back.
The Fedora
No, it’s not just for hipster guys. Add some spunk to a tailored or preppy outfit with a fedora. Color choices aren’t as broad as the floppy knit, but you can make them even more exciting with a ribbon of color (like Sienna Miller!).
Army, Newsboy and Their Offspring
I’m no Sarah Palin fan, but she turned me onto this army/newsboy combo back in December. The funky Ted Baker version (pictured) is on sale! These aren’t quite as versatile, but if you want your head to make a statement, it certainly will! You can also turn a more plain hat into something special with buttons, ribbons and bows.
