“Glee” Star Matthew Morrison to Release Album

matthew-morrison-1If your favorite Glee hottie is teacher Mr. Schuester, you’re in luck. According to Variety, Matthew Morrison has signed a worldwide recording contract with Universal Music Group’s Mercury Records, and is planning to release his debut album in the fall.

Matthew is having a pretty good year; the 32-year-old actor-vocalist from California is up for lead TV comedy actor honors at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.

Matthew has a long resume of Broadway shows, including Hairspray, The Light in the Piazza (for which he received a Tony nomination), 10 Million Miles (which earned him a Drama Desk Awards nomination) and South Pacific. On the big screen, he’s had roles in Dan in Real Life, I Think I Love My Wife and the totally underrated Hugh Grant-Drew Barrymore rom-com Music and Lyrics. And here’s a fun fact: when he was starting out, he used to work at the Gap in New York, which makes me love him even more.

What was your favorite Mr. Schuester song this season? I have to say, I was a big fan of his duet “Alone” with guest star Kristin Chenoweth. I also loved his sultry rendition of Kanye’s “Gold Digger.” It’s no surprise that the show has been renewed for a second season. I can’t wait to see what other songs are in store!
