Alla Kournikova Arrested
Alla Kournikova, mother of tennis star Anna Kournikova, was arrested and put in jail today on charges of child neglect. According to People Magazine, Alla left her 5-year-old son Allen home alone for more than 50 minutes while she went on errands to the bank and the post office.
It doesn’t seem so horrible, until you hear what the boy did. According to the Palm Beach police department, a neighbor called authorities to report that Allen (who is Anna’s half-brother) was “soaking wet and walking in front of his house, acting very upset.” The caller told police that the little boy said he “had jumped out of a window.”
When police officers arrived at the $2 million Palm Beach home purchased by Alla, 46, in 2005, Allen told them that after he “jumped out of the second story window” he went into the family swimming pool because his “feet hurt.” Police did a study of the home and learned that the second-story roof was about 15 feet high. Allen landed in a white stone side yard, police said, between a pair of air conditioning units. He was barefoot.
Alla claims that the boy was sitting on the couch and watching TV when she left, and that she didn’t take him on the errands because he didn’t want to go. Hello! He’s 5! Who cares what he wants? Take him with you. TV is not a babysitter.
