This weekend the stars are coming out, and you won’t need a telescope to see them. You just need to head out to the movies. Whether you’re looking for a great date flick, or a girls’ night out, there are a handful of movies coming out this weekend that promise to entertain.
I have been waiting for “Legion” (R) to come out since I saw the first trailer over the summer. Not only do I think the world needs more movies starring Paul Bettany (who is SMOKING HOT on the poster), but I love a good religious apocalypse. When God decides the world is no longer worthy of existence, it’s up to a ragtag band of survivors and the archangel, Michael, to defend humanity. I cannot wait to see this movie! This looks like a subtle blending of the films “The Prophecy” starring Christopher Walken and “The Seventh Sign” starring Demi Moore, with a more powerful edge and some killer effects.
Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser team up in “Extraordinary Measures” (PG). Based on a true story, one man risks everything he has to find a cure for his two children after they are both diagnosed with a terminal illness. He forms an unlikely partnership with an unconventional scientist, and together they develop a cure while battling the medical and business community. Tension runs high as they fight the clock and each other, leaving the lives of two children on the line.
Dwayne Johnson’s character in “The Tooth Fairy” (PG) doesn’t believe in much of anything. When he spouts off the truth about the tooth fairy to a young girl, he finds himself sentenced to an unbelievable punishment. He must spend one week as the tooth fairy. Anyone who’s ever wondered what “The Rock” might look like with wings and a pink tutu will not want to miss this family comedy.
