the-politician-1John Edwards is telling all, before anyone else can. According to NBC News, the former North Carolina Senator and Democratic Presidential candidate has come forward, admitting he’s the father of Rielle Hunter’s 2 year-old daughter. “I am Quinn’s father,” Edwards wrote in a written statement. “I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves. I have been able to spend time with her during the past year and trust that future efforts to show her the love and affection she deserves can be done privately and in peace.” Edwards’ attorneys say he has been providing financial support for the child for about a year, and recently signed a child support agreement with Hunter.

I know what you’re thinking – who is Rielle Hunter? She’s a campaign videographer with whom Edwards had an affair. The news of the affair came out back in October 2007, when the National Inquirer broke the story. Edwards, who has been married to breast cancer survivor Elizabeth Edwards for 32 years, first denied the affair. But when Edwards lost the presidential bid, he finally fessed up.

Strangely, he continued to deny that he was the father of Hunter’s child. He now says, “It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me.”

According to The Huffington Post, the new tell-all book is called The Politican, written by Andrew Young.
