Mini Coopers are adorable – but if they’re a too tiny for you, the carmaker has unveiled a new option. According to USA Today, the 2011 Mini Countryman is a crossover SUV that’s more substantial than other Minis, with high ground clearance and a good amount of clearance in back.  There’s no word on exactly when it will hit American shores or what it will cost. Edmunds.com estimates about $30,000.

The Countryman is intended to be Mini’s fourth model, after the hardtop original, convertible and roomy Clubman.  It’s a true five-door with optional all-wheel drive. It lacks the gimmicks of the Crossman, which has rear-opening “suicide doors” and a gate-opening tailgate, but it does have a quirky new feature: a track system down the middle. “The Mini Center Rail may be fitted with holders for entertainment and telecommunication devices, cup holders, a case for sunglasses … as well as center armrests held safely and comfortably in position. The holders and storage bins placed on the center rail may then be moved forward and backward to any desired position.” It’s kind of cool looking, but I wonder if it’s removable. Would it be comforable for larger people, or pets? And forgive my dirty mind, but it would probably make certain backseat activities rather difficult.

The new Mini will come in 11 paint colors (whoa!) and you can get the roof in black, white or same as the body color. Do you guys like it? I want one!!
