Haiti still needs our help to recover from the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that devastated the island nation, and all the biggest artists and celebs are stepping up as part of a Hope For Haiti concert and telethon tonight at 8 p.m. EST. According to USA Today, George Clooney organized the event, which is officially called Hope For Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief. (As if you didn’t already love George enough.)
The telethon will be hard to miss, since it’s airing on all the major networks plus cable channels like MTV, CNN, Bravo, HBO, Comedy Central and more. The event also streams live via YouTube, Hulu, MySpace, AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Fancast, MTV.com and CNN.com and other sites. You can watch on your phone with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or Alltel, and Sirius XM is broadcasting it, too.
Participating celebs include Brad Pitt, Robert Pattinson, Jon Stewart, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, “a collaboration between Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z and Rihanna,” Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, Wyclef Jean, Dave Matthews, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Meryl Streep and more. Of course, they’ll all be encouraging you to call in and donate, but if you want to get a head start, later today you can pre-order the album of tonight’s performances on iTunes for $7.99. Also, the Hope For Haiti Now organization is already accepting donations.
