Commence Squealing! New Girl Scout Cookie Flavor Announced

Can I get personal for just one second? When I was a wee lass, I wanted to be a Girl Scout. But the Maker put me on this planet with a hustling RN mother who to this very day, prefers working a long night shift.  Whenever I inquired about joining the Girl Scouts, I was met with a stern “I don’t have time to stand outside grocery stores selling cookies with you” response. But before you think I had a terrible childhood involving living under the stairs or other such Potter-esque denials, I got over it pretty quickly when my mother would simply buy me a box of my desired cookie.  It was the next best thing to group activities and being outdoors. And yes, I know that sounds terrible.

And it is with great snack-y anticipation that the Girl Scouts reveal their newest cookie creation for 2010, Thank U Berry Much – a cookie stuffed with “premium cranberries” and “sweetened with creamy, white fudge chips.”  They helpfully come in a cranberry colored box in case you’ve forgotten what you’re snarfing.

The last new cookie variety, released in 2009, was the Dulce De Leche cookie – which sat unloved on my office desk for almost 3 months, nobody wanted them after trying just one.  So will you snarf this new flavor?  Or are you a Girl Scout Cookie Classicist? (A GSCC.)

And here’s a controversial question: does bother you that they haven’t improved on the Girl Scout cookie recipes to include less hydrogenated oils and artificial flavors?

  1. Not really. Thin Mints rule!!

  2. I’m not gonna lie. I’m scared. I wasn’t fond of their last two attempts at new flavors, and think they should just make Tag-a-longs and Samoas forever. And ever.
