Most of us fall in love more than once in our lives, and although they say no two loves are alike, each and every one of your past relationships has one major thing in common: you. What is it that pulls you in? It all depends on what kind of love you’re looking for, and what kind of love you have to give. Which of these seven kinds of romantic love categories do you fall into?
Hopeful or Escapist Love. When you fall in love because you believe he can change your life, transform your situation, and ultimately save you and take you to a better place.
Savior-Complex Love. The match for an Escapist, the Savior-Complex lover falls for someone they think they can save.
Self-Loathing Love. This is when you fall in love because the person treats you badly, which is what you believe you deserve deep-down. Women staying in abusive relationships are an example of self-loathing lovers.
Redemptive Love. When you fall in love because somehow the other person will give your life meaning or “redeem” you from something in your past. Like escapist love but more extreme and less about literal change.
Practical Love. This is when you fall in love because it makes sense. Because you like the same foods, you want the same things, you believe in the same God, and because your parents like him.
Antonymical Love. A perfect example of this kind of love is when opposites attract. You love him because he’s so different, because he’s so far outside of your normal “type” and because he’s just so surprising and exciting.
Narcissistic Love. When you love someone because you see yourself, or qualities of yourself, in them. Because they’re so much like you they’re perfect.
