The End Of The Era of Brangelina?

The newest rumors in print and online are of the pending split between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Many national publications have published that they have divided their assets and liabilities which typically indicates divorce. While I will miss photos of the world’s hottest couple and their cast of We-Are-The-World children if the rumors are true, I must ask, who didn’t see this one coming?

Aside from the beard that screamed, “I don’t care anymore,” there were warning signs of the breakup before the public knew about their hookup. Brad was rumored to be with Angelina before his divorce from Jennifer Aniston. While the good women of the world mourned Jennifer’s loss, we just couldn’t bring ourselves to hate Brad Pitt. He had that cute baby face, remember?  But now, the grizzly-bearded Pitt is easier for me to chastise. Brad, I am sorry, but we women fans knew this was coming.

Typically the person you meet immediately after, or in Brad’s case during, a divorce is not going to fit the bill of life partner. And here’s why: When you divorce, you are not ready to be anyone’s partner. When you divorce, you need to learn to be your own partner. I speak from experience. However, it is easy to fall for someone because they provide the same comfort in a different body. Brad immediately settled in to domestic bliss because that was what he knew.

Who will step to the spotlight to take their place?  This split will leave a void not just anyone can replace.  Will we usher in the era of Lady Gaga and A-Rod?  Or perhaps it is time for us to pass the torch to the  young ones – Miley Cyrus and a Jonas brother.  We’ll just have to wait and see.
