Scott Baio is still alive and tweeting. But, maybe not for much longer. After the one-time TV star posted an unflattering picture of Michelle Obama with the caption “WOW he wakes up to this every morning,” he’s received several death tweets.

This is just another example of how Twitter can go so wrong when you have nothing worthwhile to talk about. Or when you make a really bad joke. Which, comprises much of the chatter on the social networking site. Celebrities are always tweeting ridiculous pictures of themselves or phony expressions of grief. Or, they tweet about how they aren’t going to tweet anymore. Now, following Baio’s joke and the subsequent empty death threats, the “Charles in Charge” star is in full-on Twitter “I’m not a racist” damage control.

In his Twitter campaign to prove that his joke wasn’t racist, Baio tweeted about all the black people in his life. The classic, “My friend is black” defense. He tweeted about how he directed episodes of “The Parkers” and “The Wayans Bros.” shows. And he posted a picture of himself with his wife’s best friend, who just happens to be black. It was accompanied by the post, “This is Renee’s BEST frd. STOP USING THE RACE CARD.”

So, is Scott Baio a racist? Probably not. At least, his bad joke certainly wasn’t racist. Is he an intelligent person worth following on Twitter? Again, probably not.

"All" the black people in his life? You mean all one of them - the best friend of his wife, who is in this photo. The others he mentioned were just related to TV shows he directed, and according to IMDB there were a total of 4 episodes more than 10 years ago. Not exactly "black people in his life". Even his "my friend is black" defense blows.

Mrs Obama looks pretty good. Anyone can take a bad photo and that photo looks distorted. Her forehead looks longer then it really is. Laura and Barbara bush are no great beauty's. Baio isn't making jokes about them. They are all first ladies with children and are wives to the president's that run and have run our country.Scott Baio is a punk to insult a lady. He is a has-been that is just looking for some press. His pass work on some "black tv shows" was a pay check. He was lucky that anyone wanted him to direct its not like he's Clint Eastwood.
