Zac Efron Snags Two Big Boy Roles

zac-efron-1Ohh, Zac Efron. How you wooed me with your silly basketball-dancing in High School Musical and hot Aviators-and-leather-jacket ensemble in 17 Again. Now he’ll be ruffling my feathers for a whole new set of reasons: he’s signed on to play two roles in some very mature movies.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the 22-year-old heartthrob has joined the cast of Fire, an Universal Pictures adaptation of a graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis that was published by Image Comics. He’ll also executive produce. Zac Attack will play a college student who is recruited by the CIA, only to find that he has been trained for a program that creates expendable agents.

Zac has also made a deal with Warner Brothers to star in a Back To The Future-like film that combines two other projects. One’s a pitch from writers Tim Calpin and Kevin Jakubowski, and the other is a WB project called Algorithm.

Zac has already had one more serious role, in the art film Me and Orson Welles. It didn’t make a big box office slash, but it earned his some positive reviews. Yay for Zac! (And move over, Shia LaBeouf.) I knew this kid would be a huge movie star.
