Talk about refreshing. And totally heart-melting. Actor Jeremy Renner was on the “Today” Show with director Kathryn Bigelow and co-star Anthony Mackie talking about their film “The Hurt Locker” when he received some pretty big news. He had been nominated for an Oscar for best actor for his work in the film. Cameras rolled as he reacted to the news.

What a sweet moment! For so many reasons, Hollywood is jaded. Nomination reactions are usually some variation of composed and anticipated gratitude, and these statements issued through publicists usually come from actors who are used to being nominated. Now, I’m not saying they appreciate the honor any less, but it’s great to see a young actor who’s paid his dues get a little recognition. And for such a great roll in such an intense and moving film. Please, if you haven’t seen it, you must rent it! It’s not just a war film. It’s about the human aspect of war and what drives people.
I hadn’t heard of Jeremy Renner before seeing this film. But I quickly took notice. And fell a little in love! And, IMDB-stalked him. Seven years ago he was on a reality show called “The ‘It’ Factor.” The show followed struggling actors as they tried to make it in Hollywood. And, now, one of them is nominated for an Academy Award. If that isn’t “making it,” well, I don’t know what is. Not that an actor would ever judge his success by the amount of award nominations he receives. I’m just saying getting an Oscar nomination is pretty much the public definition of “making it.”
And judging by the hug Renner got from Anthony Mackie, there are no egos here. Honest excitement was met with honest congratulations! So, cool! Please, again, see the movie! Good luck, Jeremy Renner!

If you loved him in the Hurt Locker, I suggest renting Twelve and Holding. He plays a traumatized firefighter that becomes the target of an aggressive 12 year old girl's fascination.

I am going to rent it just as soon as I can. I've really become obsessed. I think he's just fantastic.
