Former teen idol Leif Garrett has been busted for drugs. Again. According to People Magazine, the 48-year-old singer/actor was arrested Monday by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department for possession of a controlled substance at a Metrolink station in downtown L.A.
Garrett reportedly was taken into custody and jailed until his release Wednesday morning. His next court date is set for Feb. 24.
Garrett’s problems with drugs though date back to the 1990s. He entered a California treatment facility for violating his probation after a 2004 arrest, and was arrested again in 2006 when he attempted to ride the Metro Red Line without a ticket. (At least he’s not driving?) Unfortunately, he was also in possession of heroin and Quaaludes — so he was sentenced to 90 days in jail after leaving his court-ordered rehab program (he claimed it was too strict).
Besides releasing 10 music albums during his golden era, the 1970s and ’80s, Garrett has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies. According to IMDB, he last appeared in the 2005 film Popstar alongside Aaron Carter and David Cassidy. Hmm…why am I not shocked that the flick earned an IMDB rating of 1.8 out of 10?
As if you needed any more evidence that being a child star can eff you up, I present to you: Leif Garrett.
