New Yorkers have the reputation of being impatient and unfriendly, but comedian Mark Malkoff is trying to change that image - one ride at a time. According to CNN, he got 155 strangers to physically pick him up and carry him down the sidewalk for 9.4 miles – on the coldest day of the year! Check out the video:
I love this! There are so many crazies in New York that it seems unwise to chat with strangers, but Mark proves it can be hilarious – and maybe even heartwarming. “I find myself really enjoying the chit-chat,” he said. “It seemed as though people actually wanted to carry me.” He said the most surprising carriers were nine musical theater kids who carried him six blocks while singing Lady Gaga. (No word on whether any bad romances were ignited as a result.)
Mark said he gets obsessed “with funny, over the top ideas that on paper that seem almost impossible to pull off.” In the past, he has has made national news for his video projects “Mark Lives in IKEA,” where he lived and slept inside an IKEA store for a week, and “171 Starbucks” in which Malkoff visited and made purchases at all 171 Starbucks stores in Manhattan in less than 24 hours. Yowza, that’s a lot of lattes.
