HCG Injections

Learn more about the uses of HCG

Human chorionic gonadotropin, or HCG, is a hormone that women produce during pregnancy that performs several different functions for the mother and the growing fetus.

As discussed below, there are currently different reasons why a woman might want to receive injections of HCG. However, it’s important to remember that although it’s not a drug, HCG is still a form of medical treatment. Therefore, you should only ever take HCG under the advice or supervision of a certified healthcare professional, and if you are administering it yourself at home, you should only ever buy HCG injections or HCG for injections from a genuinely reliable medical source.

HCG Injections for Infertility

In some cases, HCG injections can be part of a couple’s infertility treatment. If the reason for infertility has been identified as ovulation difficulties, and if other methods for treating this issue have been unsuccessful or are unsuitable, then an HCG injection is sometimes administered to try and induce ovulation. HCG injection can also be used during in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures, or if the cause of infertility is unknown.

HCG Injections for Weight Loss

Although there seems to be no clear consensus yet about the benefits of taking HCG as a weight loss strategy, there are a lot of opinions being expressed online that “weigh in” on both sides of the debate. Some people claim that by following the HCG diet, they have experienced fast, substantial and lasting weight loss and have felt no negative side effects.

Others argue that there is no convincing medical evidence that HCG really does anything to your body to make you lose weight. One popular objection is that with the HCG diet, injections are only one element, and that it is the other elements of the system, like the diet itself, that lead to the actual weight loss.
