What? They play football in the Superbowl? For many of us, it’s all about the commericals. Superbowl 44 was a bit disappointing for me, as many of the ads opted for silly over smart and a few were straight-up WTF head-scratchers. USA Today’s Superbowl Ad Meter tracked the second-by-second responses of a panel of viewers to ads during the Super Bowl and ranked them from best to worst. Snack and beer commercials semed to fare best. Their favorite: The Betty White Snickers ad. Check it out:
Betty White is the best. No wonder so many people are campaigning to get her to host Saturday Night Live!
USA Today’s second-place ad was the Doritos dog collar ad. Take a look:
Really? Number two? I didn’t even laugh. Number three went to Bud Light, which featured an entire house made out of beer cans. Full beer cans. I give this one points of creativity – and I do like the line, “there’s Bud Light in a fridge made of Bud Light,” but again, it’s really not that funny. See what you think:
E-Trade’s talking baby Superbowl commercial only placed at #7 on USA Today’s list, but it’s getting a lot of Internet buzz. Check it out:
Which ad was your favorite? With the millions of dollar spent on these ads, is this really the best we can do?
