Beauty Tips for the Undead Socialite

zombie-1Rocker Rob Zombie once pointed out living dead girls need love too. With Valentine’s Day coming up, even the undead ladies will want to make sure they look their best. You never know when your zombie beau might surprise you with a night out on the town, or hand you a finger sporting an engagement ring, so here are a few tips you can add to your morning routine to ensure you not only look fresh, but can disguise decay all day long.

Moisturizer is your best friend, whether you’re newly undead, or a rotting veteran. As your body starts to deteriorate, you’re going to notice some serious sagging. While moisturize won’t prevent this, it may help slow down the process. Moisturize your skin at least three times throughout the day, and always after a shower. You also want to stay away from loofahs in the shower. Loofahs are designed to schluff off dead skin-cells, and since your skin is dead, you’re looking at serious, irreparable damage. Don’t risk it!

While you’re at it, you’ll want to stay out of the sun as often as possible. This doesn’t mean you can’t go outside, but if it’s a bright, sunny day make sure you wear a wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun from drying out your skin more than necessary.

There’s a reason they call it concealer, girls. It’s designed to help hide flaws. If you’re reaching advanced stages of decay, concealer is going to help you disguise some of the rough spots. Make sure you apply concealer that is a couple of shades lighter than your actual skin-tone, so you can create an even canvas to work with that won’t show through when you apply foundation. Pay special attention to the area around your eyes, which may be darkening and somewhat hollow.

Liquid foundation may have been okay before, and using it for touch-up and skin tone blending around your concealer will definitely make a difference. For hardcore cases, however, you’ll want to bring out the big guns and go with a liquid powder blend foundation. The consistency of liquid powder will go on smoother and dry as a powder without drying out and flaking your skin.

Brighten the appearance of your eyes by penciling in a thin layer of white eyeliner just under your lashes before applying a natural brown mascara. Black mascara and eyeliner will draw negative attention to your eyes, as will darker shades of eyeshadow. Stick to lighter, more natural colors like tan and pink, accentuating the outside of your lids with a slightly darker shade than you’ve used over your whole lid. This will widen your eyes and give them a little more life.

Like your skin, your lips will probably dry out regularly, so you’ll want to keep them moisturized with lip balm. Apply a liberal layer of lip balm underneath your lipstick to ensure your color doesn’t flake away throughout the day.

If you were an avid junk food junkie in life, it’s hard to tell how long all those preservatives will hold up, so monitor your appearance and alter your morning routine accordingly. You may need to add an extra ten to fifteen minutes to your routine to get that perfect finish. Just because you’re falling apart, doesn’t mean you should let yourself go.

It's good to know that when the Zombie Apocalypse comes, we won't forget the little things. ;D
