Yay, another thing you love is going to kill you. According to CBS News, a new study has found that soda drinkers have an increased risk of developing pancreatic cancer. The findings from the University of Minnesota claim that people who drink as few as two soft drinks a week face almost double the risk of the disease, which is one of the deadliest cancers.
“Their risk of getting pancreatic cancer over the time period of the study was almost two times higher than their counterparts who were consuming little or no sugar-sweetened beverages in the study,” said Dr. Mark Pereira. Ah, so that’s the thing. It’s only regular soda that’s the enemy. I know aspartame (and now, Splenda) will probably kill me in different ways, but it seems that us Diet Coke (and Diet Snapple and Diet 7Up and Diet Everything) drinkers are at least safe from pancreatic cancer.
The problem might be the quantity of sugar in the drinks. The pancreas produces insulin to balance the body’s blood sugar levels, and more sugar means more insulin. “Insulin has been shown to promote the growth of most tissues including cancer cells, so that might be the mechanism if this is cause and effect,” said Pereira. By that logic, the problem isn’t limited to just soda. Put down that donut too!
Sooo…sugar’s bad for you. Not shocking news, but the old “everything in moderation” advice may not work here, since two to five soft drinks a week isn’t a huge amount. We may actually have to kick our soda habits for good.

Diet drinkers may be safe, but studies prove that Diet soda drinkers tend to be more obese. Artifical sweeteners are not good for you. Womentowomen.com did and article about it. http://www.womentowomen.com/healthyweight/dietsoda.aspx

Nothing is good for us almost but we're all gonna die regardless, it's just a matter of when and how :(

It really isn't that difficult to cut out what is not good for you. Most people don't care because they don't think about the future. Yes, we're all going to die, but it is all about quality of life when you start to get older.

This article doesn't make much sense. One 12oz can of pop contains 38g of sugar. That equals to 3.1g of sugar per oz. I compared it to Yoplait original yogurt. One serving is 6oz which contains 27g of sugar. That equals to 4.5g of sugar per oz. People would eat more of the yogurt since it has such a small serving size. So why doesn't it cause pancreatic cancer as well? That's just 1 example I found...there are probably hundreds more that are out there. I'm just curious why they aren't labeled as a carcinogen too.
