There’s something distinguished and sexy about a confident man over the age of fifty. Many of them have outgrown their Peter Pan phase and come out on the other side of mid-life crisis with a new respect for themselves and the ladies. I’m sure if I confessed my attraction to the over-fifty crowd, some Freudian psychologist would tell me I was trying to placate my daddy-issues, but with so many hot guys over the age of fifty, who’s thinking about dear old dad?
Alan Rickman

Maybe it was his stint as the snarky and brooding Professor Snape in the film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, or perhaps it is the melted deliciousness of that voice that has captured that attention of women worldwide. Either way, as Alan Rickman prepares to turn 64 this February, there is no denying he is one of the most attractive men on the big screen.
Stellan Skarsgard

He’s been acting since the late 1960s, but 58-year-old Stellan Skarsgard didn’t really start making a name for himself in American Cinema until his appearance in the film “Good Will Hunting” in 1997. His diversity as an actor has landed him roles as a priest, a viking king, a saxon warrior, a pirate and even a military officer. Like Alan Rickman, there’s something divine about that Swedish accent of his that absolutely melts me.
Sean Connery

With an acting career spanning more than five decades, 79-year-old Sean Connery stole our hearts when he landed the role as British secret agent, James Bond, in 1962. Many of us weren’t even born yet, but Connery is a classic Bond favorite. As he approaches his 80th birthday this August, Connery is still as active as ever in Hollywood, and still stealing the ladies’ hearts.
Pierce Brosnan
![]()
Electric blue eyes, a dazzling smile and holder of People Magazine’s 2001 Sexiest Man Alive award, Pierce Brosnan’s capacity to charm female audiences has definitely earned him a spot on this list. From his Remington Steele days through filling Sean Connery’s shoes as James Bond, 56-year-old Brosnan’s good looks blend well with his intensity and sensitivity, making him incredibly attractive.
Sting

58 and still rocking,I have to admit there isn’t a day that goes by I don’t envy Trudie Styler. Not only does Sting write some of the most beautiful music and lyrics I’ve ever heard, he’s also environmentally and socially conscious. Before taking up a career in music, the man was an English teacher. What’s sexier than that?
Daniel Day-Lewis

The first time I saw Daniel Day-Lewis was in “Last of the Mohicans” back in 1992. That was all it took. Ruggedly handsome and incredibly diverse, Day-Lewis is possibly one of the most underrated actors of our time. When he assumes a role, it takes him over, giving him the ability to become just about anyone he sets his mind to. Mysterious and withdrawn from mainstream media, the fact that this 52-year-old actor is not all over Hollywood tabloids is possibly one of the sexiest things about him.
Edward James Olmos

From Blade Runner to Battlestar Galactica, what makes 62-year old Edward James Olmos sexy? Aside from the gruff determination of his voice, he is an incredibly powerful actor. While he may not be stereo-typically Hollywood gorgeous by most standards, there’s just something about him that makes the blood boil.
Liam Neeson

Okay, obviously I have an accent fetish, because there is something very sexy about listening to Liam Neeson talk. He’s also easy on the eyes, if you know what I mean. At 57, Neeson has appeared in a wide variety of films, but some of personal favorites are the period and fantasy pieces. I’ve always been a big fan of Arthurian legend, and Neeson has been in a number of Arthurian pieces which warms me heart and soul.
Viggo Mortensen

There is nothing sexier than a jack-of-all-trades, and that is exactly what 51-year-old Viggo Mortensen is. Poet, artists, photographer, musician, swordsman and actor, Mortensen is one of those deep enigmas that draws you in like a moth to a flame. His willing approach to explore all avenues in his personal life has also gifted him with the ability to portray a wide variety of roles. Like Daniel Day-Lewis, Viggo Mortensen tends to embody his roles–body, mind and spirit.
Sean Bean

50-year-old Sheffield, England native, Sean Bean tops my own personal list. Ruggedly handsome, yet suave, the accent fetish is incredibly strong when it comes to Sean Bean. The first time I heard him reading “The Canterbury Tales,” I fell in love. Well, as close to love as you can get to a total stranger. Then I discovered he had been married three times, (four now,) and realized he was the perfect fantasy; the kind of guy you really enjoy watching on the big screen, but would never actually want to fall in love with.
And that’s the beauty of actors and rock stars. They’re incredibly fun to fantasize about because we don’t know anything about who they really are.

Oh come on now Jenny, Viggo deserves that #1 spot.
You forgot Mark Harmon. Oh my, what a man. *swoon*
Not sure how I feel about Skarsgard or Olmos, but i like the rest, esp Viggo =)
I also have the voice fetish, so include Gerard Depardieu and Patrick Stewart in that list. I’d also say Arnold Vosloo should be on the list, but he’s still under 50.
Anthony Bourdain!!!!
A woman after my own heart – Sean Bean is definitely to die for!!
