3 Sneaky Skin Agers

50389_9321Everybody knows that sun and smoking are two of the biggest wrinkle causers out there, but unfortunately they don’t work alone. Here are some other less obvious (but just as damaging) skin agers.

Driving. The sun’s rays can find you in the strangest places, and one of them is in the car while you’re driving. It’s not unusual for skin experts to see more wrinkles, brown spots, and other skin damage on the left side of people’s faces and bodies than on the right — a likely result of time spent in the car. Solution: wear SPF 30 sunscreen on your face every day, move your visor to block your left side, and wear driving gloves.

Sipping from a sports bottle. Think about it, sucking from a sports bottle causes the same mouth position as smoking a cigarette does, and if you’re being good about getting in your eight “glasses” a day, that’s a lot of puckering up over the course of every day. Avoid unwanted vertical lip lines with a wide-mouth sports bottle or travel mug instead.

Eating too much sugar. Sun, smoking, and sugar? Yep. Sugar bonds with proteins in your body and works to damage the collagen fibers that keep your skin firm. Just say no to sagging by limiting your added sugar to 150 calories or less every day (that’s about 6-9 tsp).
