The bitch is back! No, not Elton John. Kelly Cutrone. After stints playing the hardass boss on “The Hills” and “The City,” the controversial fashion publicist finally has a show of her own. In “Kell on Earth,” Cutrone’s life as head of People’s Revolution is chronicled. And it’s pure entertainment. Honestly, how can it not be?
For someone who works behind the scenes in fashion, Kelly Cutrone has become quite the celebrity of late with a new book out, the aforementioned reality show and profiles in almost every New York publication. After having to be a supporting player to the twits of the MTV reality shows, her new starring role is well deserved. And, while the reality fame is merely secondary to her actual career, at least her hard work is now being appropriately chronicled.
She comes off as vicious and unforgiving, wearing all black and bossing people around, pulling no punches. But it’s not without purpose. And it’s not an ego-driven power-trip. She founded People’s Revolution and has worked tooth and nail to keep it running successfully. More power to her. Her straight-talk is refreshing. She has the balls to say the things most people think, but are too afraid to speak.
And who doesn’t love the fact that amidst the superficial world of fashion here is this woman in all black wearing no makeup. She offers up a little balance in a seriously unbalanced world. Even if she herself sometimes comes unhinged.
