As I write this, well past my bedtime on the West coast, a conference room sits silent and empty in the Sawgrass Marriott Resort and Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Tomorrow this room will be full of 300 journalists watching a movie screen, as Tiger Woods giving a personal statement from one mile away at the PGA Tour Headquarters. Woods, known for being a people person (I use extreme sarcasm here, after all, the man is sitting 1 MILE AWAY from people he is talking to) is expected to discuss the future of his career and once sterling reputation – and of course, apologize, apologize, apologize. We all lean back, stretch deeply, and yawn, at this news. Who. Cares.
Most public figures have been caught doing something or other of a wobbly ethical nature – from your standard adultery to titillating sex tapes to plain-old dating Jessica Simpson. Our media world is completely muddled with the pointless sexy crap that it’s hard to concentrate on whatever the hell it is that Sarah Palin thinks she’s saying. I am beyond caring that Tiger Woods had a *great deal* of extra-marital nookie. That’s Elin’s problem, not mine. And I personally believe the only reason we are truly “upset” with Tiger Woods is that this sad excuse for a man clearly had a yen for the tackiest women he could find. If Tiger had had these sordid affairs with sleek, elegant, learned brunettes or red-heads – diplomats’ wives, lawyers, novelists, art gallery owners – would TMZ be THIS in a frenzy over it?
Unfortunately, you can’t teach this extremely rich, extremely aloof man a damn thing. The press conference will be as orchestrated as an Oscar night song and dance routine. He will try to come off as a good family man and spokesperson for the sport of golf, and not the kind of neanderthal doofus who makes crass dick jokes during a GQ interview to women standing nearby.
You think he’ll cry?
If he does, his tears will be broadcast on ABC, NBC, CBS and of course, ESPN. Yes, even on the channel covering the Winter Olmypics, where America still leads the medal count. Apparently the sexual offenses of one man outshines the achievements of our medalists and countless other athletes from around the world. I call BULL*&^ on this.

Amen Sister. BTW I found this blog by googling ‘who cares tiger woods’. I had to make sure I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t give a rat’s @$$ about any dang Tiger Woods. I am so sick of logging on and having to see his ‘special’ looking face staring at me from my computer screen. What a media joke!
