American Idol rolls along tonight at 8 on Fox, promising to kick off two guys and two girls. Crystal Bowersox has already emerged as a fan favorite, with her big voice, messy blond hair and acoustic guitar. No one knows how things might turn out because Crystal may have some medical issues that prevent her from performing…but if she’s able, something tells me she’ll be sticking around. Take a look at her performance of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “As Long As I See The Light” from the last episode:
“That girl is hot!” Randy exclaimed, ever-impressed by Crystal’s strong and truthful identity.
Ellen agreed: “That is pure, raw, natural talent.” She also begged her to stay healthy. “We need you here,” she said. “You’re amazing.”
But Simon has been harder to convince. After a previous performance, he said that he wouldn’t stop and listen if he heard her playing on a subway platform. “What’s great about you is that you didn’t play the whole sympathy thing,” he said. “You chose a great song. I have to tell you something, Crystal. I completely misunderestimated you last week.” He continued: “The vocal was incredible. And this was like the moment we realized with Kelly Clarkson, we’ve got a serious artist here.”
I’m glad Simon came around! Crystal is a lot different from Kelly, but I hope she stays well and keeps singing. She could be the next American Idol!
