The moment we’ve all been waiting for came last night. It was the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. And it seems no one was left off the “Bring the Drama” memo. What a red carpet it was! For better or worse, no one played it safe. I want to discuss every dress because they were all so different, but I will try to edit myself for your sake.
Oh! The Drama of it All:
Zoe Saldana was one of the night’s best dressed. From the waist up her Givenchy gown looked sweet and elegant: lavender waistband with shimmery-cream beading on the bodice. Then you panned down and the dress explodes into a tier-upon-tier of purple tulle. Drama to the max!
Rachel McAdams brought spring to the carpet in a strapless watercolor Elie Saab gown. Cameron Diaz also looked gorgeous in a gold Oscar de la Renta gown and side-swept hair. Mo’Nique arrived in style as well, putting a classic touch on her vibrant cobalt dress with a white Gardenia in her hair. And, sweet Carey Mulligan finally made her mark on the American red carpet wearing a black Prada gown embellished with tiny knives, forks and scissors. No joke! And it totally worked.
Not particularly daring, but nevertheless stunning were Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep and a very elegant-looking Kristen Stewart
Oh! The Horror of it All:
I wanted to love Diane Kruger’s Chanel Haute Couture cream and black halter dress, but it was a bit heavy for the actress’ delicate frame. Again, I desperately wanted to like Maggie Gyllenhaal’s tropical Dries Van Noten dress, but it didn’t seem appropriate for the event. Oh, poor Vera Farmiga! She just can’t seem to get it right. Her fuchsia gown with big fan-like flourishes of fabric made her look wider than she is, it wasn’t flattering at all. Jennifer Lopez also went for a gown with over-the-top volume that ended up being really unflattering on her curvy body. And the normally glamorous Charlize Theron chose a two-toned Dior dress with very oddly-placed swirls of fabric that made her look like she was wearing a couture version of Ali Larter’s whipped-cream bikini from “Varsity Blues.”
But my favorite dress of the night was worn by a young lady named Zoe (not the star of “Avatar”). Zoe Kravitz accompanied her dad, Lenny, wearing a blush-color gown with huge red velvet bow around the bust. The slight train gave it a little glamour, while the big bow added a quirky drama. She out-shined many of the seasoned movie stars on the red carpet.
So much for editing myself.

The top of the dress does not match the bottom just, as simple as that. Overall, she is beautiful!
