Back in February, Simon Cowell’s publicist claimed the snarky Brit wasn’t engaged to girlfriend Mezghan Hussainy. But last night on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Simon sang a different tune. According to E! News, when Jay asked about the gigantic diamond ring that had found its way onto Mezghan’s finger, Simon came clean. With sarcasm, of course. Check out the video:
“Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy, so that’s how I…it’s called giving back,” Simon said. (Is he comparing marrying his girlfriend to donating to charity? Wow, Simon, so romantic.) ”I was asleep, I think,” he continued, before adding more seriously, “No, look, I bought her the ring in London.”
Simon then confirmed that the wedding will take place “within the next 10 years” and Jay can “do the flowers” if not be the best man, but he’s not sure if the nuptials will take place in the U.K. or the U.S.
“These are the kinds of questions you have to answer!” Jay insisted.
Ten years, Simon? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. (See Hollywood’s Guidebook, “How to Be a Manchild and Never Grow Up,” Page 4.) But when Mezghan joined Simon onstage, they seemed very happy.
