There’s nothing like a good circle of friends to confide in and go shopping with, but is your circle full of the right friends? According to Prevention all of us women need these 8 types in our life.

A childhood friend because they know you from way back, which means they have stories and memories of you that no one else does and can help keep you grounded to your true self.

A new friend because they have no pre-conceived notions of who you are and what you’re about.

A workout buddy because it’s nice (and necessary) to have some help with motivation and to not always have to exercise alone.

A spiritual friend because studies show that people who are regularly involved in a religious or spiritual community live longer, happier lives.

A younger friend because we all have an innate need to feel helpful and to nurture others.

Your partner’s friends because although it’s healthy to maintain your own identities, the more you and your significant other share friends the happier your relationship will be.

Your mom because no matter how much the two of you clash, there’s no other woman that knows you or loves you like she does.

Yourself because loving and respecting yourself is the foundation for everything else.
