You finally have a reason to watch the MTV Movie Awards! According to The Los Angeles Times Show Tracker, actor/comedian Aziz Ansari will host this year’s shindig, which will be broadcast live June 6 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City. The hilarious Parks & Recreation star is known for his hilarious Tweets (last week, he live-Tweeted as he watched Twilight for the first time). One example: “Never thought I’d see a dude pull up in a Subaru Forrester with such authority. … #TwilightAziz.” Maybe he was studying up for the hosting gig?
The show will air just before Aziz sets out on his Dangerously Delicious Comedy Tour, beginning June 10 in Charleston, SC (see the full list of dates and buy tickets here). If Aziz isn’t coming to your city, check out his Comedy Central special Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening. It’s my fave! I also had the pleasure of seeing Aziz as a special guest at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater in LA a few months ago. I won’t reveal too much since he was testing out material, but I can tell you that his bit about defining basic words as R. Kelly is pretty special.
Aziz is also known for his hilarious stories about hanging out with Kanye West, so maybe that will pay off at the MTV Movie Awards…though I wouldn’t be surprised if Kanye is seeking help at Passages for his fear of MTV award shows after last year’s stealing-the-mic-from-Taylor-Swift VMA debacle.
