Fashion photographer Terry Richardson’s secret is out! He gets turned on by naked models! And his job just happens to be photographing models. And sometimes they are naked. The problem lies in Richardson’s ability to control himself. More so in the fact that he cannot seem to control his carnal urges when behind the lens. Over the past few days the word photographer has been replaced with pervert when describing the man who’s shot for such esteemed publications as Vogue, GQ and Harper’s Bazaar.
First, model Rie Rasmussen came forward and called Richardson’s work “degrading to women.” Then another girl, Jamie Peck, wrote a frank post on a lifestyle website about her experience being photographed by Richardson, which involved the photographer stripping down in front of her. More stories have since been brought to light by Jenna Sauers of Jezebel. The allegations are pretty lurid and damning. But it seems like a lot of “an anonymous source said this…” or “a friend of a friend of a stylist saw that…” Richardson responded via a post on his blog in which he wrote, “I’m really hurt by the recent and false allegations of insensitivity and misconduct.” Marc Jacobs, who once posed naked for Richardson, admitted that the photographer had asked him to do crazy things, but that his intentions were not “ill-spirited.”
It sounds like Richardson got a little too comfortable with his uber-hip status and figured that meant he could do whatever he wanted without complaint. Gosh, it’s the first time something like that’s ever happened. If you’re still on the fence about Terry Richardson’s guilt, perhaps this self-portrait will clear things up. Listen Terry, if you’re gonna get off while photographing naked women, do it outside in the bushes late at night like the rest of the perverts, voyeurs and stalkers. Don’t bring your uncontrollable creepy urges into the sanctified world of fashion.
