Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Spring is finally here, which means cities across the country will be hosting Major League Baseball Opening Day ceremonies with their respective teams.  While I find watching baseball just a bat above watching golf in terms of entertainment value, many of us love someone who enjoys America’s favorite pass-time.

With most opening day’s starting the first week of April, now is the perfect time to start planning a romantic baseball date for your mate.  Even for men mildly enthused about the sport, baseball conjures up childhood images, whether its checking out a game with their grandpa or playing catch with their dad.  They’ll appreciate the effort you put in to doing something fun that they will enjoy.

Follow these guidelines to plan a fun date at the ball park.

1.  Find the deal night.  While opening-day tickets can be hard to score in some cities (I’m a Cleveland sports fan, so it isn’t a problem there), start to look for the bargain nights now and buy your tickets.  Many parks offer dollar hot-dog nights and some even offer dollar beer nights to lure people in.  Your day at the game doesn’t have to break the bank.

2.  Pack the necessities.  Baseball mitt and blanket.  It’s that easy.  If it’s an early spring game scheduled for the evening, it’s a great excuse to cuddle up, drink a beer, and wait to catch a fly ball.

3.  Root, root, root for the home team. Even if you’re not HUGE fans, it’s more fun to go all-out and get excited about the game.  If you don’t own your home team’s jersey, throw on some face paint or borrow a friend’s hat.  Just pretend, for the night, like this is the game of your life.  Cheer, scream and get in to the game.
