I’ll get this out of the way – I’m down a total of 8 pounds from 8 weeks ago. Not too shabby, but the big news of this entry is that I did six days of Master Cleansing.
Never, ever, ever in my wildest food fantasies did I ever think I would have the willpower to go without food for so long. (I credit being able to stick it out to my awesome husband who did the cleanse with me.)
Before all you nutrition-savvy people freak out about how unhealthy it is to ”fast” to lose weight – let me tell you I didn’t do it to lose weight. Some weight loss was just an added bonus.
I did the Master Cleanse to prove to myself that I don’t have to eat every time my brain says, “Eat, Lisa. Just grab a little something…”
The second and third day of the cleanse were met with flu-like symptoms, making it easy to say no to food, and after I got in the swing of the cleanse (day four), I felt pretty good. I did long for some “real” food, but my body actually craved mostly fruits and veggies.
The cleanse was the jump-start I needed to enter full-fledged into healthy-eating choices.
At the end of the cleanse, the scale said I dropped five pounds, but I gained back two of it right away. But more important than the scale, I feel like I have broken myself of an addiction to junk food and potentially even sugar. I’ve switched to tea without sugar in the morning instead of coffee with cream and sugar, and have been keeping fresh-cut fruits and veggies on hand for snacks.
I must say my outlook regarding my weight loss is much more positive and I have this sense of “Yes I can” that I didn’t have when I first set out to lose weight. The Master Cleanse improved my overall mental outlook when it comes to food.
