Once you enter the Fashion Vault on eBay, you’ll never want to leave. The online retailer that specializes in pre-owned items has partnered with major retailers and designers to offer what they are calling “flash sales.” So, what are these flash sales? Basically, every girl’s dream! They are limited-time offerings of deep discounts (we’re talking 60% off) on brand new retail apparel.
The inaugural flash sale, featuring items from French Connection, just wrapped up. Maybe you’re wondering just how phenomenal the discounts actually are? Here’s an example: French Connection’s cap sleeve poison ivy dress retails for $168, in eBay’s Fashion Vault it cost only $67.20. Needless to say, many items sold like hotcakes, some even sold out. If you’re going to partake in future sales, you have to be quick, they only last between 48-72 hours. EBay’s “flash” concept is similar to that of sites like Rue La La and Glit Group, which offer online sample sales on designer merchandise to members.
Some, however, aren’t down with eBay’s new selling concept saying in diverges from the retailer’s core sales model (i.e. bidding for last-season or used merchandise). Um, hello! A sale is a sale! Whether it’s on eBay or in a store. Sixty percent off is never a bad thing! Next up in eBays fashion vault is a sale on men’s and women’s watches. It doesn’t exactly make me want to go grab my wallet, but I’m sure more good sales will be just around the corner.
