Charlie Sheen may not return to Two and a Half Men. According to People Magazine, after the hit CBS sitcom tapes the last episode of its seventh season on April 9, it will be down to one and a half men. “Charlie’s just done,” says a set source. “And he’s quietly telling his friends he’s not coming back.”
The network can’t be completely surprised, since Charlie’s contract only ran through this season. Although sources say the network hoped he would would sign a new contract for an eighth season, Charlie recently turned down the offer. “He wants to move on,” says a friend. “Leaving is 100 percent his idea.”
Charlie’s rep Stan Rosenfield would only say: “Charlie’s deal is only through this current season.” CBS doesn’t comment on contract issues, but a source close to the show says “negotiations are ongoing and nothing has been determined.” In other words, CBS is going to fight hard before letting go of their biggest star.
Charlie’s had a rough last few months, with his Christmas Day fiasco with Brooke Mueller, his runaway car and his recent admission into rehab. Right now, he returns to rehab each night after taping the show.
Maybe it has nothing to do with his personal issues…maybe Charlie realized that seven seasons of Two and a Half Men is more than the world needs. I wonder if CBS will try to keep the show alive if he leaves. Time for a revamp! One and a Half Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place?
