Thank goodness court documents in nasty divorce cases are a matter of public record. Otherwise, how would Bruce Springsteen groupies the world over get this kind of insight into The Boss’s seduction tactics. According to divorce papers filed by the soon-to-be ex-husband of the New Jersey housewife who allegedly had an affair with Springsteen, among other things, the singer sent unsigned valentine’s to her house and showered her with front-row concert tickets. And, he’s an ass man.
Although the housewife, Ann Kelly, has denied having an affair with New Jersey’s Native Son, her scorned husband seems less than convinced, hence the divorce proceedings, which began in March 2009. According to documents filed by Arthur Kelly, Springsteen (who is married to E Street band member Patti Scialfa) became smitten with his wife after they met at a New Jersey gym. Bruce then seduced her with compliments, lunch dates, liberal reading material (she’s a conservative), kisses in the gym parking lot and the aforementioned anonymous Valentine’s Day cards. How could a girl say no?
This certainly doesn’t have the filthy stink of a Tiger Woods or Jesse James scandal. Bruce is a gentleman. But, just in case, I’ve booked a plane ticket to New Jersey and will promptly apply for membership at the Atlantic Club in Red Bank, NJ where the affair allegedly began. You never know.
