Back in November, Oprah fans sobbed into their organic tissues when the media maven announced she’d be ending her daytime talk show in September 2011, after 25 years on the air. But according to E News, we won’t have to wait long to see Oprah interviewing celebs again. In late 2011, she will host Oprah’s Next Chapter, a prime-time hourlong talk show of sorts that will air on her new cable network, OWN.
The show will air just two or three times a week. It will be similar to her current show, featuring Oprah interviewing the people she deems most interesting and newsworthy, but instead of chatting in front of a studio audience, Oprah will travel the world to places like Egypt and China.
Oprah will also appear on other shows on her network (duh). One is Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star, a competition in which Oprah and reality producer Mark Burnett work together to find someone who obviously needs his or her own show (like Dr. Phil or Rachael Ray). The search will begin this May, with some special promotion The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Another OWN series will be Oprah Presents: Master Class, an hourlong show feauturing stars with inspiring stories, like Jay-Z, Bono, Simon Cowell, Lorne Michaels, Toni Morrison and Condoleeza Rice.
OWN will launch on Jan. 1, 2011.
