The Fast and Healthy Way to Shed Water Weight

Pounds of fat need to come off slowly but water weight is another story. If you’re feeling puffy and want to tighten things up a bit before a big date or important event here’s how to do it quickly and without jeopardizing your health. With these tips you could be down several pounds overnight!

  • Drinks lots of water. It might seem counterproductive to add water when you’re trying to shed water but that’s exactly how it works: drinking water flushes toxins and sodium out of your system and triggers your body to release water stores. Carry a water bottle with you everywhere and sip on it all day (and be ready to makeĀ  plenty of bathroom visits).
  • Exercise in a way that makes you sweat a lot. Trade the yoga for a routine of alternating vigorous cardio and strength training moves for 1 minute each for a total of 45 minutes.
  • Limit sodium intake as sodium causes water retention. Foods to avoid include obvious culprits like pizza and potato chips as well as processed foods (canned soups, spaghetti sauces), frozen meals, and soda. And of course watch how much you use the tabletop salt shaker.
  • Drink caffeine as it’s a natural diuretic. Drink it in moderation and from healthy sources like green tea for the best results — a cup or two daily is plenty.
